With a whirlwind of federal activity underway in the nation’s capital, the impact of various policy changes in the executive branch on public transit funding and policies is uncertain. As the situation on program reviews and funding freezes is in flux, SWTA is monitoring developments closely, including communication with contacts at federal agencies and updates from APTA & CTAA plus other transit advocacy organizations.
In the meantime, we are focusing substantial agenda time at our 2025 Annual Conference & Expo in Tucson next month – the largest event in our industry to start 2025 – to focus on the priorities and strategy for federal legislative and policy advocacy this year and beyond. If you haven’t registered yet to join us in Tucson, do so today!
Additionally, we are seeking input from your agency on how potential delays to current federal funding and grant programs will affect your system over 30-, 60- and 90-day windows to share with leaders in Washington on a bipartisan basis. Please send these perspectives directly with SWTA Executive Director Rich Sampson at rsampson@swta.org or 225.270.0855.
