CapMetro: Facilities Installer I Painter
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
This position reports to the Coordinator, Facilities HVAC & QA and takes general direction/instructions from the Manager and/or Lead Facilities Installer. This position is primarily responsible for painting facilities and appurtenances and when assigned, assisting with HVAC preventative maintenance, building maintenance quality assurance (QA), and electrician’s remedial work.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Note: The duties and primary responsibilities below are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this job and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.
•Properly paint administrative space, transit fleet maintenance areas, service island space, and other assigned assets, areas, and appurtenances in a timely manner.
•Coordinate with applicable coworkers to confirm paint colors and paint specifications along with when painting can occur to reduce business productivity issues.
•Proactively ensure inventory of supplies like paint, brushes, rollers, tarps, tape, ladders, scaffolding, and appurtenances are available for specific paint scopes of works to ensure a safe and workable environment that minimizes downtime.
•Keep open and proactive communication along with ensuring areas that are being prepped, cleaned, and painted are appropriately isolated to ensure painting jobs are completed safely and without interference
•Complete appropriate training to follow all required safety protocols to properly complete work including the assembling of scaffolding, operating lifts, and working at heights with proper fall protection.
•Properly clean areas and prepare surfaces that will be painted to ensure paint adheres properly to enhance the paint life via pressure washing, corrosion removal when applicable, sanding, priming, etc.
•Repair and/or patch areas and surfaces that will be painted so they are like new upon completion of prep and painting.
•Apply primer and other sealers as needed to ensure paint adheres properly.
•When needed, ensure paint, epoxy, stain, etc., are mixed to properly match selected colors to job specifications.
•Apply primer, paint, epoxy, sealers, etc., to most efficiently and effectively complete work requirements using brushes, rollers, or sprayers as required.
•Be neat and orderly to only paint required areas and assets while keeping other areas paint free by covering other surfaces with protective coverings, tape, etc.
•Utilize no-VOC paint when possible. Otherwise, utilize ventilators and other safety equipment for protection against unhealthy fumes.
•When other resources including contractors, service providers, vendors, etc., are required to complete tasks, coordinate properly and proactively with management to ensure no delays and unnecessary costs.
•Properly clean all areas, equipment, tools, brushes, rollers, and appurtenances with water or other safe solvents and cleaning aids.
•Review, manage, and implement work orders and assignments using CapMetro’s software programs so all work is tracked properly in a timely and accurate manner.
•When required, post notifications and/or section off areas that are being painted. Remove and reinstall items such as cover plates to ensure a neat, orderly, and professional paint job is completed.
•Always maintain a safe working environment utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
•Support CapMetro’s Safety Management Systems (SMS) process by following safety and security policies, considering safety in every action and reporting safety and security concerns.
•Support internal HVAC and electrician(s) when assigned to complete preventative maintenance, quality assurance, and/or other work requests.
•Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING
•Applicant must be at least 21 years old.
•High school diploma or GED.
•Two (2) years of experience in painting and preferably, one (1) year minimum building/ground maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Knowledge in and experience with detailed and complex painting preferably in commercial environments.
•Experience with Microsoft Office (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel), web-based programs, and preferably, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) programs.
•Punctual, reliable, and skilled in following directions and properly completing work assignments in a timely manner.
•Detail oriented and professional team player.
•Acceptable oral, written, interpersonal communication, and customer service skills.
•Acceptable organizational skills, ability to effectively multi-task, and make good, expedient decisions.
•Ability to effectively troubleshoot to solve practical problems.
