CapMetro: Intern- Community Engagement, Communications
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The Communications Intern reports directly to the Manager of Community Outreach. This position is responsible for supporting the Transit Adventures program, an award-winning Transportation Demand Management (TDM) offering of Capital Metro. Assist in hosting transit trips for groups of 10 – 40 people, recruiting participants, creating event registration pages, developing trip itineraries, and gathering survey data. This role may also include tabling and public speaking.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
•Assist with community programs such as Try Transit, with staff leading Transit Adventures in the urban core.
•Create registration landing pages using Eventbrite.
•Generate itineraries and prepare a printed Trip Plan for program participants.
•Serve as a tour guide during Transit Adventures, as assigned.
•Develop relationships with community organizations and encourage them to host a Transit Adventure to increase their familiarity with transit options in the region.
•Collaborate with staff on TDM programs such as Smart Trips, Commute Solutions, Transit Adventures, and other projects.
•Support program evaluation by using existing survey tools.
•Provide administrative, technical and public relations support to the Community Engagement department.
•Assist in various project management functions.
•Support Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Safety Management Systems (SMS) process by following safety and security policies, considering safety in every action and reporting safety and security concerns.
•Perform related duties as required and/or assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING
•Currently enrolled in a bachelor program in English, Communications, Public Relations, Public Policy, Urban Planning or a similar field.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.
•Experience using email newsletter and event registration websites.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
•Detail oriented, organized, and creative.
•Inquisitive, self-starter who can effectively engage with community organizations to generate interest in transit.
•Ability to work independently and as a reliable team member.
•Knowledge of and dedication to customer service and working team concepts.
•Familiarity using public transportation, as well as commuting by bike and foot.
