CapMetro: Public Safety Administrator

The Administrator, Public Safety reports directly to the Manager, Public Safety. This position is responsible for assisting the Manager, Public Safety in the supervision of the daily activities of the security department. Supervision of the activities of the commissioned peace officers; manage various security projects and contracts, and coordinate joint projects with district representatives, agencies and communities in order to achieve Capital Metro’s strategic plans and goals.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

•Plan, direct, and supervise the activities and functions of the commissioned peace officers, including selection and hire of officers, terminations, issue work assignments, coordinate work shifts, and evaluate performance.
•Manage the day-to-day security operations for Capital Metro and contractors.
•Conduct investigations of customers’ complaints at bus stops, transfer stations and rail stations.
•Work with operation staff, supervisors, radio control, and management to prevent or solve security concerns.
•Support Human Resources with security officers for discipline or termination process.
•Provide and supervise building security support
•Monitor performance standards, conduct administrative investigations and reviews, counsel officers, and coordinate disciplinary action regarding the commissioned peace officers.
•Responsible for the management of the surveillance center including develop guidelines and operational procedures and develop maintenance schedules for equipment.
•Coordinate joint projects with various community agencies and attend community meetings to assist with resolutions and responds to security concerns.
Support Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Safety Management Systems (SMS) process by following safety and security policies, considering safety in every action and reporting safety and security concerns.
Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field. Related experience may substitute for educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.
Five (5) years security management experience, including three years of supervisory or lead experience.
Possess a valid class “C” Texas driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
Experienced with various computer software including MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees, officers, management, services contractors, and the general public.
Analytical ability to find solutions to complex problems.
Ability to manage multiple projects, meets established deadlines, generate spreadsheets, and write reports.
Ability to manage and monitor work performance of a department including ability to:
Evaluate program and work objectives and effectiveness;
Establish broad organizational goals;
Re-align work and staffing assignments for the department.
Cross Functional Service Impacts Team Member
This position has been identified as a member of the Cross Functional Service Impacts Team. As a member of this team, the person in this position may be responsible for attending quarterly meetings where Tier 3 and 4 Service Impacts, all Capital Metro Service Changes, and all other large, customer facing projects at Capital Metro, will be discussed. This team will be responsible for ensuring that all facets of our business, both internal and external are considered and managed effectively, to provide the greatest service possible to our customers. In rare instances, this will require working outside of normal business hours.
