SWTA Nation Has Been Busy

From Albuquerque to Lubbock to Omaha, SWTA Nation has been on the move. Over the past several weeks, we’ve had the opportunity to connect with public transit leaders, agency teams, Tribal partners, and industry professionals across multiple impactful events. From the successful 2026 SWTA + New Mexico Joint Annual Conference & EXPO presented by Model 1 Commercial Vehicles, to the Texas Transit Association State Conference & EXPO, and now CTAA EXPO 2026, we’ve loved seeing so many familiar faces throughout SWTA Nation. These moments remind us that while our region is wide, our public transit community remains deeply connected through shared goals, collaboration, and the work we continue to do together.

Texas Transit Association Conference Recap: Celebrating 40 Years in Lubbock

The Texas Transit Association (TTA) State Conference & EXPO brought transit professionals together in Lubbock, Texas, celebrating 40 years of leadership, advocacy, and progress in public transit. The conference featured engaging general sessions, more than 30 breakout sessions focused on operations, workforce development, innovation, funding, and industry best practices, along with a huge EXPO Hall showcasing the latest transit solutions and partnerships. A major highlight was the always-anticipated Roadeo, where transit professionals demonstrated skill, safety, and excellence behind the wheel. Combined with networking events, workshops, and industry conversations, the conference reflected the strength and continued growth of public transit across Texas.

CTAA EXPO 2026: Connecting in Omaha

SWTA was excited to connect with our transit family at CTAA EXPO 2026 in Omaha, where public transit leaders, agency teams, Tribal partners, and industry professionals came together for a week focused on innovation, leadership, and strengthening mobility nationwide. This year’s agenda featured impactful general sessions, breakout discussions, the EXPO Hall, peer networking, and national conversations around rural and community transit solutions. Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in valuable intensive sessions focused on leadership development, operations, technology, safety, funding, and specialized transit solutions, providing deeper hands-on learning opportunities. A key highlight was Tribal Transit Day, which emphasized collaboration, growth, and important discussions surrounding Tribal transit systems and the communities they serve. Combined with the always-anticipated Roadeo competitions, networking opportunities, and industry showcases, CTAA EXPO continues to provide an important platform for education, innovation, and connection across the public transit industry.

SWTA Membership: More Than Just Dues

Being a member of SWTA means more than simply paying dues — it means being part of a connected network committed to advancing public transit across rural, urban, and Tribal communities. Membership provides access to industry resources, advocacy support, professional development, training opportunities, networking events, conferences, leadership growth, and valuable connections with peers and partners across the region. Whether you’re an agency leader, team member, Tribal transit professional, or industry partner, SWTA exists to support growth, strengthen collaboration, and help move public transit forward. At its core, membership is about community, opportunity, and being part of something bigger than any one system alone.
