Celebrating 15 Years of Service: Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribal Transit Marks a Milestone of Impact and Partnership

The Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribal Transit agency recently celebrated a significant milestone—15 years of service dedicated to mobility, connection, and community well-being. The commemorative event honored not only the agency’s longevity, but the leadership, collaboration, and heart that have defined its success.
A centerpiece of the celebration was a keynote address delivered by Cristi Williams, Southwest Oklahoma Mobility Navigator, whose remarks reflected the deep respect and strong partnerships Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribal Transit has built across the region. Her invitation to serve as keynote speaker underscored the agency’s role as a trusted and impactful transit provider within Oklahoma’s broader mobility network.
Williams spoke to the meaningful collaboration that exists between mobility management and tribal transit—describing Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribal Transit as one of the first agencies to welcome her when she began her work. What started as professional coordination has evolved into a seamless, trusted partnership focused on ensuring riders receive the services they need, even when challenges arise.
“This milestone represents far more than the passage of time — it’s a testament to commitment, compassion, and community service.”
Throughout her address, Williams highlighted how collaboration is essential to effective transit delivery, particularly in a state like Oklahoma, which is home to 39 federally recognized Native American tribes. Transportation, she emphasized, is about more than vehicles and routes—it is about dignity, access, and opportunity.
She also recognized the leadership behind Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribal Transit, noting that riders frequently request the agency by name based on positive experiences—an achievement that speaks volumes about the quality of service and trust built over time.
“Every time someone specifically requests Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribal Transit because they had such a wonderful experience — that is impact. That is legacy.”
Strong leadership, supportive teams, and unified tribal backing were identified as key factors in the agency’s continued growth. Williams reflected on how mission-driven leadership and a people-first approach create resilience, sustainability, and long-term success in public transit.
“Transportation is about more than getting someone from one place to another. It is about dignity. It is about opportunity. It is about connection.”
As Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribal Transit celebrates 15 years, the milestone serves as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through collaboration, trust, and community-centered service. The agency’s legacy is not only measured in years, but in lives impacted and opportunities expanded.
Here’s to 15 years of service—and to many more ahead.
