South West Transit Association

SWTA to Host 2026 Bullfeathers Breakfast and Participate in National Transit Advocacy on Capitol Hill

Washington, D.C. — March 5, 2026 — The Southwest Transit Association (SWTA) will once again host its long-standing Bullfeathers Breakfast in Washington, D.C., on March 5, 2026, continuing a proud tradition that dates back to the founding of the association. The event will also include the presentation of the SWTA Legislator of the Year Award, recognizing an elected official who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and support for public transportation.

In conjunction with the Bullfeathers Breakfast, SWTA members will join transit leaders from state associations across the country and partner with the Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA) for a coordinated Capitol Hill advocacy effort from March 4–6, 2026. During this time, participants will meet with members of Congress and congressional staff to discuss priorities impacting community transportation systems, rural and Tribal transit providers, and industry partners—particularly as discussions begin around the upcoming Surface Transportation Reauthorization and other key federal transit legislation.

Through this partnership, CTAA will coordinate and schedule congressional meetings, allowing participants to focus on what matters most: sharing the unique stories, challenges, and successes of their local transit systems. Advocacy briefings and resources will help ensure members are prepared to engage in productive conversations with policymakers.

As an added benefit, SWTA members are eligible for special CTAA member pricing of $299 for this advocacy event. The registration fee includes policy briefings, scheduled congressional meetings, meals during the event, and an invitation to attend the SWTA Bullfeathers Breakfast on Thursday morning prior to Capitol Hill visits.

“Bullfeathers has always been about relationships, conversation, and elevating the collective voice of public transportation,” said SWTA leadership. “By joining forces with CTAA and fellow state associations, SWTA members have a powerful opportunity to advocate for the funding, flexibility, and policies that support transit systems and the communities they serve.”

Transit professionals are encouraged to register early and participate in this important advocacy opportunity.
