Safety Manager
SAFETY MANAGER OPENING DATE: September 24, 2024

STARTING SALARY: $26.57 - $33.22 /hour depending on experience.
QUALIFICATIONS: Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with a two year associates degree, diploma or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school or four years of relative experience.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this position is to ensure the organization and its employees are in compliance with federal, state and local safety guidelines and regulations and to provide risk management to control losses and to maintain loss ratios at or below established standards. This is accomplished by implementing and managing various safety related programs; completing necessary documentation; and providing safety training. Other duties include completing safety related projects as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Implements and manages various safety related programs by ensuring programs comply with all federal, state and local laws and regulations; ensuring all documentation is completed and filed; communicating with outside agencies, employees and physicians regarding claims; ensuring all testing is completed in a timely manner; and administering the programs effectively. Completes necessary documentation by maintaining safety records, accident reports, safety files and statistical information related to safety; preparing various reports; and submitting reports to appropriate departments. Provides safety training by conducting safety meetings; planning strategies to reduce accidents and injuries; providing training to employees; conducting safety observations on the road; providing feedback to drivers; conducting the advanced driver training program; and administering discipline as necessary regarding unsafe work practices, accidents or citations. Completes safety related projects by conducting accident/injury investigations; reviewing and managing liability and workers’ compensation claims; monitoring and updating the inventory of hazardous chemicals; maintaining other inventories; and overseeing annual physicals.
