The votes are in: VIA “Most Popular Agency” VIA honored in first-ever Riders Choice Awards

SAN ANTONIO (Dec. 13, 2023) —Today, Transit App unveiled the winners of its first-ever Riders Choice Awards — and VIA Metropolitan Transit took first place honors in the "Most Popular Agency" category out of a total of 18 transit agencies, including Tampa, Las Vegas, and Salt Lake City.

Transit App calculated these awards using 2023 survey responses from 100,000 riders across the United States and Canada. Respondents graded their respective transit agency on everything from delays and disruptions, to whether they’d recommend public transit to their family and friends on a scale of 1 to 10. The agencies with the highest ratio of top-rating riders rose to the top.

The surveys are part of Transit App’s quarterly Rider Happiness Benchmarking (RHB) questionnaire, which asks riders to give their transit agency a performance report card on a range of metrics. They conducted a Winter, Spring and Summer survey and aggregated the results of the three.

Other winners in the “Most Popular Agency” category were OC Bus in Orange County, California with 2ndplace; PSTA in St. Petersburg, Florida with 3rd place; and CATA in Lansing, Michigan with “Most Improved” honors.
