South West Transit Association
A Special Message from Executive Director Heather Dalmolin
Dear SWTA Members and Partners,
As we begin July, I am honored to address you for the first time as Executive Director of the South West Transit Association. Following my appointment in May, I am excited to work alongside our members, state associations, business partners, and industry leaders to continue strengthening public transportation throughout the Southwest.
Public transportation continues to play a critical role in connecting people to employment, education, healthcare, and community opportunities. Across our region, transit agencies are navigating evolving funding discussions, workforce challenges, emerging technologies, and growing expectations for mobility solutions. These developments reinforce the importance of collaboration and advocacy as we work together to advance safe, reliable, and innovative transit services.
SWTA remains committed to supporting our members through professional development, networking opportunities, industry education, and a strong regional voice. Our association represents transit professionals across Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas, creating a powerful network dedicated to improving mobility and quality of life throughout our communities.
In the months ahead, we will continue focusing on:
- Strengthening advocacy efforts on behalf of transit providers.
- Expanding leadership and workforce development opportunities.
- Sharing best practices and innovative solutions.
- Enhancing collaboration among transit agencies, industry partners, and state associations.
- Supporting mobility initiatives that improve access and community connections.
I am grateful for the warm welcome I have received from the SWTA Nation. Having served in public transit leadership for more than two decades and on the SWTA Board of Directors since 2022, I understand the value of this organization and the dedication of the professionals who make our industry successful every day.
As we celebrate the summer season and look toward the remainder of 2026, I encourage each of you to stay engaged, share your successes, and participate in the conversations shaping the future of mobility. Together, we will continue building a stronger, more connected, and more resilient transit network across the Southwest.
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to public transportation.
