Beyond the Sessions: Experiences That Define SWTA

While educational sessions are a cornerstone of the 2026 SWTA + New Mexico Joint Annual Conference & EXPO presented by Model 1 Commercial Vehicles, the full value of the conference experience extends far beyond the classroom.

This year’s conference offers attendees the opportunity to engage in hands-on experiences that bring public transit to life. Through curated technical tours, participants can step outside the meeting space and see real-world operations in action. A behind-the-scenes look at ABQ RIDE provides insight into how a major public transit system serves its community, while a Rail Runner excursion to Santa Fe offers a unique perspective on regional connectivity and mobility in New Mexico.

These experiences are designed to bridge the gap between discussion and application, giving attendees a deeper understanding of how strategies and solutions are implemented on the ground.

In addition to technical tours, the conference creates space for meaningful connection through a series of networking events and signature gatherings. From informal conversations on the EXPO floor to structured opportunities like the Awards Gala, attendees are able to build relationships with peers, partners, and industry leaders from across the country.

These connections are a defining part of the SWTA experience. They foster collaboration, spark new ideas, and strengthen the partnerships that move public transit forward.

As the conference unfolds, it becomes clear that some of the most valuable moments happen outside the sessions — where conversations turn into collaboration and shared experiences lead to lasting impact.
