As another SWTA membership renewal season begins, our first message to members is a simple one:

Thank you for your continued support, your involvement, your ideas, your advocacy, and the many ways you contribute to the South West Transit Association.

SWTA is more than an association. It is a network of public transportation professionals, agencies, businesses, partners, and leaders who share knowledge, solve problems, advocate for our industry, and support one another.

Today, that network includes more than 160 transit agencies and 140 business members, representing public transportation providers of every size—from large and small urban systems to rural, Tribal, and specialized transportation providers—as well as the businesses and professionals who support them.

As membership renewal notices begin arriving in inboxes soon, we want our members to know how much we appreciate your continued investment in SWTA and remind you of everything your membership provides.

Your Membership Supports a Stronger Voice for Transit

One of the most important benefits of SWTA membership is having a voice in the conversations affecting public transportation.

SWTA provides focused legislative support and advocacy on behalf of its members, while members themselves are encouraged to provide input into SWTA's advocacy messaging and priorities.

That collective voice becomes particularly important as agencies navigate federal funding, regulatory changes, workforce challenges, safety, mobility innovation, and other issues affecting the future of public transportation.

Our mission remains clear: to strengthen our members' ability to provide public transportation and mobility services across the region through education, communication, and advocacy.

SWTA provides education and training designed around the real-world needs of transit professionals.

Members have access to professional development through conferences, presentations, webinars, newsletters, emails, Leadership Lab, and other educational opportunities throughout the year.

These programs create opportunities to learn from experts, but just as importantly, to learn from one another.

A Network That Understands Transit

Sometimes the best resource is another transit professional who has already faced the same challenge.

SWTA members have access to and are encouraged to participate in member-only peer-to-peer discussions and online forums, creating opportunities to ask questions, share solutions, exchange ideas, and connect with professionals throughout the region.

That network spans SWTA's eight-state region of Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Opportunities to Lead and Be Heard

SWTA membership also provides opportunities to become directly involved in shaping the association.

Members are encouraged to participate in SWTA's strategic goals, contribute to advocacy priorities, and pursue opportunities to serve in association leadership, including running for a seat on the SWTA Board.

SWTA's strategic focus includes expert leadership, legislative support, relevant education, and creating a strong communications network among transit professionals.

Resources That Help Your Organization

Membership also comes with practical benefits organizations can use throughout the year.

SWTA members receive complimentary postings of job openings and RFPs on the SWTA website and in the newsletter, helping agencies and businesses reach a highly targeted transit audience.

Members are also included in the SWTA Member Directory, creating another way for agencies, professionals, and industry partners to find and connect with one another. Business member profiles are publicly accessible, giving those companies additional visibility to anyone visiting the SWTA website.

And because SWTA membership belongs to the organization—not just one individual—employees throughout a member organization are members and can take advantage of SWTA membership opportunities.
