The SWTA + New Mexico Joint Annual Conference & EXPO presented by Model 1 Commercial Vehicles is right around the corner, taking place March 30 – April 2 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Transit professionals from across the region will soon gather for four days of learning, collaboration, networking, and industry innovation. This year’s event is shaping up to be one of the largest conferences in SWTA history, bringing together transit leaders, agencies, vendors, and partners from across the Southwest.

The conference program features a wide range of sessions covering topics such as funding strategies, workforce development, transit technology, leadership, and community mobility solutions. Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore the EXPO Hall, connect with industry partners, and participate in unique technical tours—including a behind-the-scenes look at ABQ RIDE and a special excursion aboard the Rio Metro Rail Runner Express.

With a dynamic lineup of sessions and opportunities to connect with transit professionals from across the region, Albuquerque will be the place to be for transit this spring.

In Washington, D.C., the South West Transit Association recognized Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) and Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS) as the 2026 SWTA Legislators of the Year during the Association’s Annual Legislative Breakfast. The bipartisan leaders were honored for their work advancing legislation that strengthens the Federal Transit Administration’s Small Transit Intensive Cities program and supports transit systems serving mid-size communities across the country.

Their leadership highlights the importance of bipartisan collaboration in advancing public transportation solutions that strengthen mobility, workforce access, and economic growth throughout the SWTA region.
